2008 productions: The Fever in Toronto, July 3-13, for the Toronto Fringe Festival; directed by Katherine Bethell of Entertainment by Demand, performed by Thom Chapman.
2007 productions: The Fever performed by Shawn in New York; A Thought in Three Parts by Rubber Repertory in Austin (first full production in the US).
Fever news: The CD recording has finally been released; here are the publisher's page, the liner notes, and a radio interview about it. (In the same interview, Shawn complains about the portrayal of his father in Capote, and mentions that his next project may be Ibsen's The Master Builder with Andre Gregory.)
2005-06 productions: In New York, the Shawn brothers' 1983 opera The Music Teacher gets its first production, by The New Group; and the Roundabout Theatre Company does Shawn's new translation of Threepenny Opera.
PEN Award: Shawn was one of two playwrights receiving the PEN/Laura Pels Foundation 2005 Awards for Drama.
Films of plays: An adaptation of The Fever, starring Vanessa Redgrave, was featured at the 2004 San Sebastian International Film Festival. Variety gave it a generally good review. The movie of Marie and Bruce premiered at the 2004 Sundance festival to mixed reviews.
