one reason the 20th century was not so bad
Did you know that the late Tove Jansson, besides writing and illustrating the Moomintroll books which are pretty much the best children’s books ever—and a nearly as good Moomin newspaper comic strip which is finally available again - also did a bunch of amazing drawings for Swedish editions of The Hobbit(*) and Alice in Wonderland and The Hunting of the Snark, which don’t resemble any other version of those books you’ve ever seen?
Well, she did.
(* my favorite, on p. 85: Gollum is about eight feet tall.)
